Omega Seamaster Cosmic – 1958

This Seamaster looks fairly representative of the period, but the dial is a distinctive colour that will appeal to lots of people. I had a red one on here before and it sold in a flash, so if you like it, don’t delay!

93% (near-mint), I can’t see any dings or blemishes anywhere. Benefits from a 3 month guarantee (where else can you get a guarantee on something 50 years old?). this is a manual wind and I said elsewhere I would explain further why it’s virtually impossible to over-wind a watch and ‘over-wound’ is a mis-used diagnosis for innumerable mechanical faults. Winding a watch gives power because it winds up a mainspring that looks like a coil of rope, the more you wind it, the tighter the coil gets. Thus, to over-wind it you need to actually break the coil which becomes harder the tighter the mainspring gets. Thus, it’s very hard to over-wind a watch!

This watch was made in 1958, a radical time in music too, out with Frankie Vaughn and in with Rock’n’Roll! This is quite a radical colour  that fits with the era too.
